A Swiss national was diagnosed positive for Ebola on October 20, shortly after arriving in Nigeria from Uganda. According to the SRF, which cites the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), she is being treated in a private clinic in Abuja, the Nigerian capital. His possible repatriation to Switzerland has not yet been decided.

The patient is the wife of an employee of the Swiss embassy in Abuja. Her husband, who accompanied her on her trip, was placed in isolation as a precaution. The 25 other employees of the diplomatic representation, including eight Swiss and 17 local employees, have no health problems. After consultation with Nigerian health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO), their quarantine was not deemed necessary.

The Swiss embassy remains open and continues its activities normally, specifies the DFA. Protective measures have been put in place to prevent any spread of the virus among staff.
