Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will make their first joint public engagement in the United Kingdom next week since moving to the country at the end of August, several British media reported on Sunday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are due to travel Thursday to Nottingham, the city in central England where they made their first public appearance together after announcing their engagement in 2017, according to these media, including the “Sunday Times”.

Since their return to the United Kingdom with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, after six years spent in the United States, Harry and Meghan have remained relatively discreet, even if the youngest son of King Charles III has made several public engagements, for charitable organizations that he sponsors or supports.

Meghan, for her part, continues the activity of her brand of lifestyle products. And she posted a photograph on her Instagram account on Sunday showing her having tea with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai to mark International Day of the Girl.

“Private” commitments

Harry and Meghan left the United Kingdom with a bang in 2020, amid tensions with the royal family, of which they have no longer been active members. Shortly after their return, Buckingham Palace reiterated that any charitable commitments they might undertake would be “in a private capacity”.

In Nottingham, the couple must visit three local organizations, which help young people through music, cinema and sport, and fight against poverty, according to the “Sunday Times”.

Citing a relative of Harry and Meghan, the newspaper also reports that the Duke and Duchess will not be invited to participate in the traditional Christmas gathering of the royal family at the residence of Charles III in Sandringham (east of England), but that they will travel to California for the holidays.
