Geneva showed up with no less than…twelve absent to welcome Zug which was only playing its sixth match, the Bossard Arena being under construction.
Vesey arrived on the ice with the topscorer jersey and above all the knife between his teeth. We saw this in all the dangerous actions with a Geneva team which put a lot of pressure around Genoni. However, the score remained scoreless in this period marked only by a penalty against Sutter for interference.
The tension rose again with a new penalty against Geneva, a new interference, but this time from Vesey. Zug still failed to deceive Charlin while halfway through the period it was Guerra who was caught by the patrol. There, Geneva is not missed and Kneubuehler can open the mark in white-hot Vernets.
The final third became stifling with several penalties on both sides and the equalizer with a superb shot from Hofmann after a long period of domination by the visitors. It was then Bozon who put the final point in the match less than five minutes from the end and neither the various special situations nor the exit of Genoni were enough for Zug who lost 2-1.
Ajoie wins as boss against Lugano
In Porrentruy, the match was very long and with many penalties and stoppages of play. Carr, crazy, received three minor penalties in the match, but Lugano was only able to score on the last numerical advantage.
The first goal fell very early for Lugano who led 3-1. But the last third was a big demonstration from Ajoie who scored four times after a big rebellion and a double from Honka, his captain. Nättinen, already present on the three goals in the third, scored the fifth goal for Ajoie before Innala reduced the gap, ending the match at 5-4.
Ajoie therefore climbs into the top 5, it is preceded by the inevitable Zurich, Geneva, Langnau and Ambri. It is Friborg which completes the top 6 with a very surprising start to the season.
