“I will be very afraid the day I am moved by an AI actor”

The famous French actress Marion Cotillard said on Thursday her “fear” of being, one day, moved by an actor created by artificial intelligence, in the midst of the global debate on AI and its rise in the world of culture.

“I think I would be very scared the day I was moved by an AI actor. For the moment, I find that they are acting like potatoes and that reassures me,” explained the 50-year-old actress, Oscar winner for best actress in 2008 for “La Môme”, during a press conference at the San Sebastian film festival, in the Spanish Basque Country.

“I wonder if one day that will happen, if one day I will be fooled by an actor (…) I must admit that it is something that questions me and that can scare me”

Starring “7:40 a.m. that day”

The French actress presents her latest feature film, “7h40 that day”, in official competition on Thursday in San Sebastián. In this film directed by Nicole Garcia, she plays Alice, a woman who leaves prison after a past as a revolutionary activist and wishes to reconnect with her son, Milo, whom she had abandoned. “After spending 20 years in prison, the only thing she really has left is not her desire for revolution, but the fact of being a mother. The film tells this: the journey of this woman who will try to find the only thing that matters to her,” summarized Marion Cotillard.

The winners of the 74th San Sebastian Film Festival will be announced on Saturday.
