Olivia Rodrigo attended the first edition of the Daisy Chain Fields festival this weekend in Irvine, California. The event, which combines music and community involvement, raised $20 million, according to several American media, including “Variety”.
The singer had initially announced a sum of 10 million dollars. On stage, Melinda French Gates, philanthropist and ex-wife of Bill Gates, revealed that this amount would be doubled. She also praised Olivia Rodrigo’s ability to mobilize her generation.
The money will be distributed among around ten organizations selected by the two women. They work in particular in the areas of women’s rights, help for women in difficulty, reproductive rights and health.
Olivia Rodrigo had already made a public commitment on several subjects. During the last American presidential election, she supported Kamala Harris. She also protested after the use, without her consent, of her song “All-American Bitch” in a video by ICE, the American immigration police.
