A few days before the speed dating of the 21st season of “L’amour est dans le pré”, Yannick discussed his health problems with Karine Le Marchand. The 64-year-old farmer, based in Calvados, revealed that he was suffering from leukemia.

The candidate first explains that he is equipped with a pacemaker, before announcing that leukemia was discovered during analyses. However, he is reassuring about his treatment: “It can be treated well, apparently. My oncologist is confident. I’m in gentle chemo.”

He has already lost a son and his wife

This disease adds to several ordeals experienced by the farmer. His two sons, Antoine and Fabian, were born with psychomotor disabilities. Fabian died at the age of 18. Yannick also lost his wife in 2021. More recently, two of his animals, his dwarf horse Excalibur and his dog Lascaux, died.

His illness did not deter the women who wanted to meet him on the show. According to Karine Le Marchand, the eight contenders had been informed of her leukemia and none gave up for this reason.

At the end of the meetings, Yannick finally chose two women whom he invited to come and stay on his farm, for the continuation of the show broadcast on M6.
