A couple living in Switzerland experienced a real nightmare on Wednesday evening during a boat trip on Lake Constance. Due to an approaching storm, the two individuals made the decision to return to their home port. Unfortunately, they were unable to avoid it.
The storm caused strong swells and torrential rain, said police in Ravensburg, Germany. Due to the raging elements, the woman fell from the boat, near Kressborn (Germany). Her husband quickly lost sight of her in the waves. He immediately made a distress call. It was then 6:50 p.m.
200 rescuers from Germany, Switzerland and Austria mobilized to try to find the unfortunate woman. The intensive search lasted until nightfall. Without success.
Second tragedy in a few days
Thursday morning, two witnesses discovered a body floating in the water, Ravensburg police said in another press release. Arriving on site, rescuers recovered the lifeless body of a 65-year-old woman. Identification analyzes confirmed that it was the person missing since Wednesday evening and his fall from the boat.
This is the second tragedy to have occurred at Lake Constance in just a few days. On Sunday, two experienced divers, a 46-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man, lost their lives during an emergency ascent.
