Like hundreds of residents of Brignoles, the Clooney family had to hastily leave their property in Var due to the fires threatening the region. They sent a moving letter to the mayor of the town, in which they promised to participate in the reconstruction if their village is hard hit, specifies the magazine Peoplewho published extracts from it.
“At this stage, we do not know if our beautiful home will survive this terrible ordeal,” they write. “Above all, we hope that you and everyone in our city are safe.”
The Clooneys also assure that they will remain attached to Brignoles, whatever the consequences of the disaster. “Amal and I are determined to ensure that whatever happens to our village, we remain fully integrated into this community and contribute to its reconstruction. We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.”
The couple purchased a Provençal bastide and a vineyard in 2021 in order to offer a more peaceful living environment for their children, far from Hollywood. In an interview given last year to the magazine EsquireGeorge Clooney explained that he did not want to raise his children in “Hollywood culture”. Since the end of 2025, he, his wife Amal and their children also have French nationality.
Fires under control, but firefighters remain vigilant
The fire which broke out on Wednesday near Brignoles was finally brought under control overnight, after devastating 130 hectares and leading to more than 600 evacuations. Thursday morning, 270 firefighters, supported by four water bombing helicopters, remained mobilized to prevent any resumption of the flames. Four firefighters were injured during the operations. The authorities remain particularly vigilant due to the heatwave and winds expected in the Var.
