According to Sky Sport journalist and transfer window specialist Florian Plettenberg as well as the English press, notably “The Guardian”, SC Freiburg has reached an agreement with Newcastle, a Premier League resident, for the transfer of the Geneva midfielder for a sum of 55 million Swiss francs. He will discover a third country after his time in Germany and his training in Switzerland, at Servette FC.
“Everything is agreed between the two clubs, Newcastle is finalizing the final details of the agreement with the player,” specifies Sky Sports. Very courted, notably by Aston Villa, since the start of the summer, and even more so thanks to his exceptional World Cup, Johan Manzambi should therefore join the Magpies after the Nati adventure in the United States.
At Newcastle, Johan Manzambi will not play any European Cup next season due to the poor last championship, finished in a modest 12th place. On the other hand, he will play in the toughest championship on the planet.
The amount of the transfer, 55 million, will make the Genevan the most expensive Swiss player in history. He will be ahead of Granit Xhaka (41.5 million during his transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Arsenal in 2016) and Dan Ndoye (39 million from Bologna to Nottingham Forest in 2025).
