New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani revealed Friday that Taylor Swift had paid $160,000 to the city for costs, including police costs, incurred by her wedding last week at Madison Square Garden.
“Taylor Swift covered the cost of the permit filed, which amounted to more than $160,000 for this event and the resources deployed on this occasion,” said the mayor, interviewed during a press conference.
The wedding between the pop superstar and American football player Travis Kelce, which took place over two days in this emblematic venue in the heart of Manhattan, notably required the closure of several streets to traffic and the deployment of numerous police officers.
The total cost of the festivities is unknown but Forbes magazine estimates it to exceed $20 million. The couple also donated $26 million to NGOs, notably in New York and Kansas City, where the athlete plays.
