A man of television, cinema and entertainment, Kev Adams no longer has much to prove in French-speaking countries. Currently an investigator in “Mask Singer” on TF1, the comedian could take it easy. But, clearly, he likes to put himself in danger.
This is how Kev Adams tried his luck on “America’s Got Talent” Tuesday night on NBC. Not as a presenter but as a candidate!
Faced with the jury composed of the intransigent Simon Cowell, Sofía Vergara, Mel B and Howie Mandel, Kev Adams had everything to lose. Worse, his performance could earn him great humiliation. But it didn’t happen. Better yet: the comedian amazed the jurors.
In English mixed with an almost perfect American accent, Kev Adams performed a sketch in which he made fun of the differences between French and Americans: “When I arrived in Los Angeles, they told me: ‘You should go to Las Vegas, it’s nearby.’ Next to? It’s a five hour drive! In France, five hours away, the country has changed, the currency has changed and the government has changed. YOU? You drive five hours and you find yourself in the same restaurant as your home!”, he said, making the whole audience and the jury laugh.
Result? Kev Adams received four “yes” votes from the jurors. “You’re in a completely different country, a completely different culture, a completely different language and you pick up on the subtleties,” praised Howie Mandel. Will the comedian return once again for the quarter-finals?
