Here are 2024 Primary Election results of interest to residents of Carroll County as of May 15th at 3:00am. This article will be updated each morning until all votes are reported from the Maryland State Board of Elections:

U.S. Senator – Maryland:

1936 of 1957 election day precincts reported. Not all mail in votes have been counted yet (see press release below).


Democratic Primary (top candidates):

  • Angela Alsobrooks: 241,259
  • David J. Trone: 188,173

Republican Primary (top candidates):

  • Larry Hogan: 147,456
  • Robin Ficker: 71,675

Notes: Trone leads in Carroll County 3,921 to Alsobrooks 2,731 votes. Hogan leads in Carroll County 10,589 to Ficker 5,089 votes.

The Democratic Primary has been called for Alsobrooks. Hogan obviously won the Republican Primary setting up a very interesting General Election.

Representative in Congress – Congressional District 2

1936 of 1957 election day precincts reported. Not all mail in votes have been counted yet (see press release below).

Democratic Primary (top candidates):

  • John “Johnny O” Olszewski, Jr.: 44,325 
  • Harry Bhandari: 4,997

Republican Primary (top candidates):

  • Kim Klacik: 21,700 
  • Dave Wallace: 7,992

Notes: “Johnny O” leads in Carroll County 4,314 to Harry Bhandari 442 votes. Kim Klacik leads in Carroll County 7,613 to Dave Wallace 4,159 votes.

The matchup in the General Election will be Johnny O vs Klacik.

Representative in Congress – Congressional District 3

1936 of 1957 election day precincts reported. Not all mail in votes have been counted yet (see press release below).

Democratic Primary (top candidates):

  • Sarah Elfreth: 21,028 
  • Harry Anthony Dunn: 14,748
  • Clarence Lam: 6,740

Republican Primary (top candidates):

  • Robert J. Steinberger: 7,618 
  • Arthur Radford Baker, Jr.: 5,710
  • Berney Flowers: 5,419

Notes: Sarah Elfreth leads Carroll County with 320 to Harry Dunn 229 votes. Robert J. Steinberger leads in Carroll County with 371 to Berney Flowers 345 votes and Arthur Baker with 316 votes.

The Democratic Primary has been called for Elfreth. Steinberger looks to have won the Republican Primary.

Reminder about full results in the 2024 Primary: Mail-In Ballot Canvass will resume on Thursday, May 16 at 10 a.m. in all local board of election offices. Provisional Ballot Canvass will begin on Wednesday, May 22 in all LBEs. Results will be updated continuously during the 10-day post-election period until local boards have canvassed all eligible ballots and the results are certified on May 24, 2024.
