David Smith (co-owner of the Baltimore Sun) will be at an event in Carroll County on May 7, 2024. Mr. Smith will be a guest speaker at the Republican Club of Carroll County meeting and will be discussing “Bias in the media” at this event. Here are the details:

Date: Tuesday – May 7, 2024
Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Location: Carroll County FOP Lodge in Westminster

Back in January of 2024 it was announced “Sinclair Broadcast’s David Smith buys Baltimore Sun”

“In buying Baltimore Sun Media Group, Smith will also acquire the Towson Times, Carroll County Times, Capital Gazette papers in Annapolis and several community outlets.”

“Sinclair owns Fox 45, a TV station started by Smith’s father, which is known for its focus on crime and intense criticism of city officials.”

“Smith says he has brought in one partner, Armstrong Williams.”

In April of 2024 a local writer from Carroll County (Ethan Reese) began having articles published in the Carroll County Times. Some of the Observer readers may know work from Ethan Reese from his local entity Maryland Muckraker.

The Observer has added this event to the schedule and depending on my health that day may be onsite to get photos and videos from this event.
