The average price of gas in Carroll County jumps more than 11 cents a gallon since March 7th

It has been 10 days since the last time we check on the local prices of gas in Carroll County. Let’s take a look at how things look on March 17th.

Back on March 7th the average price of gas in Carroll County was $3.356. This morning (March 17th) it is reported that the average price of gas locally is $3.471 (an increase of more than 11 cents per gallon). If that is not depressing enough, back on February 27th the average price was $3.229 (so prices are up more than 26 cents since that date).

Back on March 7th Carroll County had the 7th lowest average price of gas in the state. Today, Carroll County ranks 10th lowest in the state. On the plus side…prices are lower here in Carroll County than the surrounding counties of Frederick, Baltimore and Howard.


The average price of gas across the state of Maryland was $3.385 back on March 7th and today it is $3.506 (more than a 12 cent increase in 10 days). Additional details of statewide prices in the past:

  • A Year Ago: $3.312

(note: I wish I had this same tracking data by jurisdiction but the AAA website only provides that tracking for the statewide averages)

Obviously these gas price fluctuate a great deal and The Observer will continue to monitor these prices for our readers.

According to Gas Buddy on the morning of March 17th here are the five lowest gas price  locations in Carroll County:

  1. Citgo in Westminster: $3.15 (more info)
  2. BJ’s in Westminster: $3.18
  3. Weis in Westminster: $3.25
  4. Southern States in Westminster: $3.39
  5. Direct to You in Westminster: $3.39

Of note: The range of the five lowest gas prices back on March 7th was $3.15 to $3.19.
