The Frederick Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating a stabbing death in the area of the Mount Olivet Cemetery

Frederick Police Conduct Death Investigation

The Frederick Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating a stabbing death.

On February 14, 2024, at approximately 8:50 AM, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of the Mount Olivet Cemetery, located at 515 S Market Street, for a stabbing.  When officers arrived, they observed the adult male victim, Jimmy Fernando Hernandez Diaz, with apparent stab wounds. Officers immediately requested Emergency Medical Services to the scene while providing medical attention to the victim before their arrival. Hernandez Diaz was taken to an area trauma center and later died from his injuries. As an open and active investigation, further details are not being released at this time.

This investigation was assigned to the Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division – Major Crimes Unit. Residents in the area of the Mount Olivet Cemetery or 340 Fieldpointe Boulevard with cameras and/or video surveillance are asked to check their systems between the hours of 6:00 AM and 8:45 AM on February 14, 2024 and contact Det. Smith if they observe anything that might be helpful to this investigation.
