DMV Gunners go on the road and get first club victory defeating Salisbury Steaks 9 to 5

The two MASL 3 expansion teams (DMV Gunners and Salisbury Steaks) played on Saturday night (January 13th) in Salisbury and history was made by the Gunners with their first ever club victory 9 to 5 over the Steaks.

The Gunners (based in Carroll County, Maryland) improve to 1-1-0 on the season while the Steaks fall to 0-5-0 after Saturday.

The Gunners reported scoring was as follows: (information taken from the DMV Gunners Twitter account)

  • Edgar Godoy scores the first goal of the game!
  • Edgar Godoy deflects a shot by Gavin Schiels to make it 2-0 Gunners!
  • Powerplay goal Gavin Schiels ties the game 3-3!
  • (unknown who scored the 4th goal of the game for the Gunners)
  • Vilius Matalavage goal gives DMV a two-goal advantage in the third.
  • Vilius Matalavage scores another making it 6-3!
  • Edgar Godoy hat trick gives DMV a 7-4 lead on Salisbury late in the third quarter
  • Erik Espinoza finds the back of the net! DMV 8, Salisbury 4
  • Edgar Godoy nets his FOURTH goal of the game! Gunners lead 9-5!

The Gunners will host their home opener in Carroll County this season against the Baltimore Kings (3-1-0) on January 20th in Westminster at the Carroll Indoor Sports Center.

Note: The Gunners home opener was scheduled for January 6th but was postponed due to the bad weather we had in our area that day.
