The following is from a press release on November 9, 2023:

State Delegate Terri Hill, M.D., (12A), a Democrat, announced today that she will run for the United States Congress in Maryland’s Third District. Hill, who was first elected to the General Assembly in 2014, is a physician, small business owner, and 50-year Howard County resident. If elected, she will continue to fight for the everyday issues that matter in people’s lives: healthcare, education, public safety, social justice and ensuring environmentally sustainable and economically thriving communities.

“As a legislator, I have a strong record of delivering for Maryland,” Hill said. “I passed abortion protections into law and helped make prescription drugs affordable for Maryland families. At a time when women’s rights are threatened and families across the country are struggling with rising costs, I’m ready to take that fight to Congress and deliver those same results to Americans across the country.”

Hill’s dedicated service to her profession, constituents and the greater community has been recognized by a broad range of organizations. She is an inductee of the Howard County Women’s Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Legislative Award from the Maryland State Medical Society and was named Legislator of the Year by the Maryland Association of Eye Physicians. She is also the recipient of the Women on the Move, Small Business Award from Associated Black Charities; the Health Promotion Achievement Award, North Atlantic Region, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; and the Mother Mary Lange Leadership Award among others.

“The diverse group of people who call Howard, Anne Arundel and Carroll Counties home come from different places and care about different things, but we are all united in our desire to make our neighborhoods, our state, and our country a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Whatever the challenge, the issues are often complex and demand thoughtful and informed debate. I know our community’s history, I share its vision for the future, and I would be honored to serve my neighbors in the United States Congress.”
