Rapper Offset, former member of the hip-hop group Migos, was hospitalized after being shot near a casino in Florida, several American media reported on Tuesday.

According to the site specializing in celebrities TMZthe 34-year-old artist is in stable condition and has been placed under surveillance in a hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

Contacted by AFP, Seminole police confirmed that a shooting had occurred Monday evening in the area, but refused to reveal the identity of the victim, whose “life is not in danger”.

She points out that a man has been charged and that an investigation “aimed at identifying one or more other people involved” is underway.

Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, became known within the group Migos, a trio from Atlanta that became one of the flagship groups of American hip-hop in the 2010s. The group broke up in 2022, after the shooting death of one of its members, Takeoff, killed in Houston at age 28.

Powered by the hit “Versace” in 2013, remixed by Drake, the group then recorded “Walk It Talk It” with the Canadian rapper and “Bad and Boujee”, number one in sales upon its release in 2016.

Offset was married to rapper Cardi B, from whom he has been separated since 2024. The couple have three children.

According to TMZ, the artist was smiling and interacting with his fans in the casino moments before being targeted.
