The Federal Council decided on December 19 to modernize driving training. From now on, the issue of driver assistance systems and automation systems will be addressed in the Traffic Theory Course (CTC). The government has therefore adapted the training of future drivers to the current state of technology.
Furthermore, it will be necessary to take the CTC to be able to register for the theoretical exam. This way, the knowledge acquired during the course can be put into practice from the first learning race. With these adaptations, the Federal Council intends to further increase road safety, he communicates.
As part of the partial revision of the Road Sign Ordinance (OSR), the bilingual designation of localities on motorway signs is now regulated in the OSR. By making this adaptation, the Federal Council is implementing parliamentary intervention.
The changes concerning the signage will come into force on 1er July 2026. Those relating to the CTC will be valid from 1er January 2027.
