To be honest, we are hardly used to vacuum cleaners, these strange machines which, as their name suggests, suck up liquids and solids at the same time as they pass through the pan. We tested one in the past, the Dyson WashG1, a similar model. Make way for the H15 Pro Heat from the Dreame brand, an evolution of pre-existing models.
The one that we were able to put to the test, mainly in a kitchen and a living room, is made up of a brush module with two tanks – one for clean water, the other for dirty water – and a cradle in which the vacuum cleaner is recharged and cleaned.
Unpacking and putting it into operation is hardly a hassle. You just have to find the right place for the charging station. We notice an integrated screen on the top of the broom and multiple mechanical buttons (to dislodge tanks, brushes, filters, etc.). We also note that the broom is paired with an iOS or Android application to be used to the maximum of its possibilities. Wifi network strongly recommended. This will probably seem a little off-putting to the technophobe (but very amusing to the technophile).
Rotating broom
The rotating broom is articulated, the assembly can be placed entirely horizontally to try to pass under furniture (a bed for example) as long as the furniture is not too low (because the central block of the vacuum cleaner is approximately 14 cm). The whole thing can even be controlled remotely to pass completely underneath. However, the use seemed to us to be very dependent on the existence of places deep enough to exploit the small service.
The H15 Pro Heat, heavier than a modern vacuum cleaner, has motorized wheels. The brush attracts and the drive wheels pull the machine forward and backward. Back and forth movements are therefore extremely easy, as if you were handling a featherweight device. On the other hand, for homes with floor(s), the weight of the object is remembered, particularly on stairs.
Hot in front!
The other particularity of the H15 Pro Heat is, as its name suggests, that it cleans hot. The water is thus brought very quickly to the appropriate heat (normal or intense), which increases the effectiveness of cleaning.
Heat also when the device is placed on its charging station during the process of self-cleaning the brush part and then drying it.
In use, we recognize that the H15 Pro Heat is easy to tame, extremely efficient and pleasant to handle. By leaving it in “intelligent” mode, the device itself chooses the operation that seems most appropriate. The user is free to choose their favorite manually. Note that you can operate it on a carpet or a rug that is not too thick by selecting the suction mode only.
Ah yes, this again: the H15 Por Heat also struck us as a device that does not break our ears and the emptying of the dirty water tank as well as the cleaning under the water tap of the compartment which collects solid waste is particularly well designed.
In the end, would we adopt this type of gear? With a kitchen and to a lesser extent a living room or bedrooms mostly with hard floors, it is possible. Even more so if some of these spaces are victims of more or less turbulent children, often stained with liquids, solids, animal hair and other dirt which has the unpleasant propensity to stick to the floors. On the other hand, in a home in which the vacuum cleaner is sufficient most of the time, we consider that other lighter additional accessories (starting with the water bucket and the pan) remain appropriate.
Introduced in Switzerland last May, the Dreame H15 Pro Heat is available at the recommended retail price of 599 €.
