Strong emotional moment Thursday September 11 on the set of “Quotidien”, on TMC, with the arrival of Lio, who presented his new title, “The love of my life”. If the singer of “Banana Split” largely obtained financing for his album via an online fundraiser, the release of the record was postponed following a tragic event: the death of his son Diego. The 21-year-old set himself on fire in early March. His body was found near Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

Diego’s father, Jean-Pierre Bellay, explained in a letter to “Paris Match” that his son had “fallen ill (delusional psychotic burst) at the beginning of January 2025”, “very probably following the absorption of drugs” during a stay in Thailand.

“I still have six children”

Six months later, on TMC, the singer, moved but serene, explains that she is still haunted by the presence of her son. “You know… I look at memories and I wrote to him, after he died, on WhatsApp. I told him that I loved him, I asked him for forgiveness… And all of a sudden, I started to say thank you,” she says.

“Thank you for all these years. They were wonderful years,” the 63-year-old star addresses him, a nostalgic smile on his lips. For Lio, his son Diego is always by his side. “I don’t have five kids…I still have six. And he is there, she assures us. I talked a lot with him, I know his favorite songs from my latest album. “The love of my life” is him. »

Lio had been criticized for going on stage shortly after Diego’s death, as she testified in “C à vous”. “I simply say: necessity is law. I have to work and I still have other children, I have grandchildren, necessity is law,” she declared.
