Monday morning, around thirty firefighters, some of them wearing suits to protect themselves from chemical risks, were deployed to a school in Brétigny-sur-Orge, in Essonne. The reason? Suspicious mail.
“It was a big thick envelope with brown tape. It was addressed to the school and came from the east of France. explained to “Parisien” the mayor of the town, Nicolas Méary. Particularity of this letter: an odor described as nauseating emanated from it.
The police, also deployed on site, cordoned off the area during the intervention. The pupils, from nursery school and primary school, remained in their respective classes with instructions not to leave them.
This important device was lifted at the end of the afternoon. It turned out to be what could be described as a dirty joke: the envelope contained cat litter. Information confirmed to the French daily by the Versailles public prosecutor’s office.
A complaint should be filed to try to determine who sent this letter and their motivations.
