In a short documentary entitled “Touched by Gold”, broadcast on Monday by the World Gold Council, Elton John recounts his love for precious metal and his frequent use of gold color in his stage costumes. At the bend of the film, the singer of “Rocket Man” reveals that he asked to keep his ball joints after his double operation to replace the knee in early 2024.
“When I was removed my kneecaps, first the left then the right, I asked my surgeon if I could keep them, which rather surprised her. Then, I called you, ”he told his friend Joaillier Theo Fennell. The latter explains that he had the bones dry before transforming them into real works of art, covered with gold and set with diamonds.
Elton John thus unveiled a gold and diamond pendant made from his right ball joint, engraved with the sentence “I will not bow down in front of any man” in Latin. It also has a gold pin made with its left ball joint. “I sincerely think that these are timeless pieces that will last centuries,” said the 78 -year -old British legend, obviously delighted to wear her own jewelry knees.
