Royal XXL splendor to coax the unpopular Donald Trump

Donald Trump is expected this Tuesday evening in the United Kingdom on Tuesday evening for a second historic visit, where the royal pump will deploy large to coax the American president.

Thousands of demonstrators have planned to protest in London against his arrival, but the 79-year-old president, very unpopular in the United Kingdom, will avoid the capital.

Protected by a massive safety device, on earth, in the air and on the Thames, Mr. Trump must remain confined Wednesday in the grounds of the Windsor castle, 40 km from London, for the royal part of this state trip.

Even the traditional carriage procession will take place in the Windsor park, avoiding the streets of the small town.

Trump will then meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday in Chequers, his official countryside residence 70 km from London, for a more political and economical component, before leaving the same evening.

According to some British media, King Charles III, 76, still treated for cancer, was not excited about reinviting the unpredictable American president who had already had the honors of a first state visit in 2019, welcomed by Queen Elizabeth II.

But the Labor government intends to capitalize on Donald Trump’s fascination for the royal family, and thus strengthen the historic “special relationship” between London and Washington.

This visit represents “a very important moment” for the two men, estimates Evie Aspinall, director of the British Foreign Policy Group reflection center.

Trump, whose mother was Scottish, could “savor the splendor and the ceremonial he likes,” she said. To Starmer, “this is an opportunity to divert the attention of dissatisfaction” in the country, “and to turn the spotlight on international issues, where he has known the most success as Prime Minister,” she adds.

Investment

This visit must also act at least ten billion pounds (11.56 billion euros) in American investments in the United Kingdom, the banking sector and nuclear, when Mr. Starmer receives Donald Trump in Chequers.

Keir Starmer Cajole The American president since the latter returned to power in January.

This strategy allowed him to amortize the impact of customs duties and keep a communication line with Trump on Ukraine, on the discussion menu, or on Gaza.

For this second state visit, nothing will be too good to entertain Donald Trump and his wife Melania.

At the end of the morning on Wednesday, the couple will be welcomed with great fanfare by the king and Queen Camilla in Windsor. A royal salvo will be taken from the castle and from the London tower in their honor, before the king, the queen, the crown prince William and his wife Catherine join them for the carriage procession.

An XXL honor guard, with three regiments of the royal guard will then welcome Donald and Melania Trump with fanfare, drums and cornemuses in the square courtyard of the castle.

“It is more important than for his first visit … It is the most important guard of honor of my 20 years of career,” said AFP the Lieutenant-Colonel Storm Green.

Donald Trump will review this guard of honor, before a private lunch with the royal family.

Another military ceremony, with an overview of the acrobatic patrol of “Red Arrows” will precede the traditional royal banquet with some 150 guests.

“Have a good time”

“I want to have a good time and respect King Charles who is a real gentleman,” Donald Trump said in July about this visit.

She occurs at a delicate moment for Keir Starmer, disputed within her party after two calamitous weeks who saw the departure of her number 2 Angela Rayner and the dismissal of her ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson, after revelations on her close ties with the American sexual criminal Jeffrey Epstein.

A subject of which Donald Trump would have preferred that he did not cross the Atlantic, because he too was a time close to Epstein, who died in prison, and the case has poison him for many weeks.

This state visit will see “indestructible friendship” between the two countries “reaching new heights”, promised Downing Street.

Melania Trump will have her own program Thursday with Queen Camilla – if she is healed from acute sinusitis from which she suffered Tuesday – and Princess Kate.
