The Paris police prefect, Laurent Nuñez, said he was on Wednesday with the AFP “very worried” of the presence of many thugs in the union procession in Paris, Thursday during the strike day.
Explaining having information on the desire of several hundred or even thousands of radicals to infiltrate the union procession to “battle it out and break”, the prefect calls on traders “to close their shops” and invites them to set up “protections of their storefronts”.
The inter -union demonstration must start at 2 p.m. from Place de la Bastille, passing through the Place de la République to that of the Nation.
In an email addressed to traders located on the journey of this event, but also to those installed in areas that can constitute targets for violent groups, the police prefecture formulates a list of recommendations ranging from closure, to alert.
“Risk profiles”
“Given the anti-consumption messages conveyed and the desire to multiply the punch actions to try to overflow the security forces, the shopping arteries will be more specifically monitored again to ward off possible degradations,” explains the prefecture.
“Upstream of the procession of the inter-union demonstration, will most likely be present of risk profiles, likely to organize in” Black Bloc “wishing to commit abuses targeting in particular markers of capitalism, symbols of public authority or establishments assimilated to the Israeli government,” she adds.
Already, she has announced that the Richard Lenoir boulevard market (between Bastille and Republic) would not be held this Thursday.
The merchants of the center of Paris (Les Halles, Champs-Elysées, Place Vendôme, Faubourg-Saint-Honoré …) are warned of possible shares and they are advised to raise their level of protection.
The authorities await between 50,000 and 100,000 demonstrators in Paris. 6000 police and gendarmes are mobilized to ensure security in the capital where blocking actions of traffic axes (peripheral in particular) are possible and several other events are announced throughout the day.
