Simon Ehammer and Angelica Moser aimed at a length and pole medal, they will return empty -handed from the Tokyo Worlds.

The 25 -year -old Appenzellois finished in the fourth final place of the long jump competition. He could believe in a place on the podium after his third jump, measured at 8.30 m and which allowed him to take third provisional place.

But the Italian Mattia Furlani (20 years old) arose from nowhere to reach the brand of 8.39 m, which offered him the world title and what ejected Ehammer from the podium. He finished in fourth place, the worst during a global or Olympic competition.

Moser fifth in the end

The Zurich Perchist Angelica Moser 27 years old also managed to get on the podium. Sacred European champion in Rome last year after having controlled a bar laid at 4.78 m, fourth at the Paris Olympic Games with a successful jump at 4.80 m, still a European champion this spring after having once again succeeded at 4.80 m, Angelica Moser came up to 4.75 m in Japan.

However, she had ideally started her competition, by easily passing 4.45 m, then 4.65 m on her first try. But she failed to cross the next height, and was able to say goodbye to her medal dream.

It is a huge disappointment for the Zurich perchist, the best performance of which is its national record at 4.88 m. She took fifth place in a competition won by the American Katie Moon (4.90 m) in front of her compatriot Sandy Morris (4.85 m). This is the third consecutive world title for Moon.
