Discovery of an amazing orange shark

They could hardly miss it: scientists had surprised in August 2024 in the Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica, to come across a completely orange nanny shark. The animal was not so because he is a fan of morning.ch And of its famous color, but because it combines two genetic diseases.

According to the results of the analysis which have just appeared in “Marine Biodiversity”, this two -meter animal is suffering from albinosanthochrism. It is the addition of xanthism, a disease characterized by a yellow-orange coloring and albinism, making its eyes entirely white. Xanthism had never been discovered before on cartilage Caribbean fish.

According to scientists, this genetic disorder does not seem to hinder the survival of the shark. Usually the nurse shark is light brown with black eyes.
