A woman of Ukrainian nationality was shot on Monday morning in the street in Chauffailles (F) and a man was arrested a few hours later in the north of the Loire, according to concordant sources.
The victim was in the process of divorce and had filed a complaint against his spouse, according to a source within the gendarmerie without specifying if the suspect was his companion.
Around 4:45 am, residents of this commune in Charolais of 3,700 inhabitants reported shots in the city center and gave the alert, reported the prosecutor Anne-Lise Furstoss, which confirmed information from the Creusot Infos site.
“Upon arrival, the gendarmerie services found the lifeless body of a woman in her fifty years visibly touched by firearm fire,” explains the magistrate.
The prosecution opened an investigation for “assassination”, entrusted to the services of the Charolles research brigade and the Dijon research section.
The gendarmes immediately set up an important research device to find the shooter. Around 9 a.m., a suspect was arrested on the terrace of a cafe in Pouilly-sous-Charlieu in the north of the Loire, sources in the gendarmerie told AFP.
He was not armed and the arrest took place in peace, according to one of them.
