Who has not built a Lego at least once in his life when he was a child? Probably no one. And for some, this passion continues in adult life with ever more imposing and impressive constructions, like Formula 1 with real size seen on Sunday on the sidelines of the Miami Grand Prix, won by Oscar Piastri.
Like every weekend of competition, the pilots carried out the traditional pre-race parade on the circuit. Except that this time, the 20 pilots are not mounted in their usual single -seater but in LEGO replicas, faithful to the original versions delivered this season.
Even the sponsors of the various stables were present on reproductions, giving a more true than life aspect. The only difference concerned speed. LEGO cars could not exceed 20 km/h.
400,000 coins and 22,000 hours of work
“It was the most pleasant driving I lived,” said Lewis Hamilton after his lap with his teammate Charles Leclerc. The team strategy looked simpler than during the race which took place a few minutes later, and that The Briton has strongly criticized.
The construction of these LEGO cars required nearly 400,000 coins and 22,000 hours of work. Big job, therefore. But it was worth it given the smiles on the pilots’ face. They all fell back in childhood for a moment.
