Baltimore County Police Department made arrest in Essex home explosion from April 20th

Arrest Made in Essex Home Explosion

On May 6, 2024, Arson Team Investigators with the Baltimore County Police Department arrested 52-year-old Michael Greensfelder in connection to the home explosion that occurred in the Unit block of Crafton Rd., 21221, on the evening of April 20, 2024.

Investigators determined Mr. Greensfelder intentionally created a fuel/gas explosion that led to a fire and destruction of the home he shared with his estranged wife and children. The family dog is believed to have been killed during the incident. Mr. Greensfelder faces several charges including arson-first degree, arson-second degree, malicious-burning first degree, malicious destruction of property, and animal cruelty. He is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.
