Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company responds to a two vehicle accident in the intersection of Ridge Rd and Twin Arch Rd on March 1st

On the morning of March 1st around 10:34 hours, units were alerted for a report of a vehicle collision with rescue in the area of Ridge Rd and Twin Arch Rd. Chief 1, Rescue 1 and EMS103 arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident in the intersection. CF1 established command and advised there was no entrapment. M18 and M19 transported one patient each to local hospitals. Engine 12, Rescue 1, and CF1 assisted Mount Airy Police Department – MD with traffic control until the arrival of additional units and State Highway. Units operated on the scene for approximately 40 minutes before returning to service.

The traffic control box was damaged in the accident and the traffic lights are out at the intersection. Please use caution while crews are completing repairs. Traffic patterns may be affected until all work is complete.
