Mount Airy Police Department arrested and charged a suspect with eluding police on February 10th

On 02/10/2024 at approximately 2330 hours, Mount Airy Police Department (MAPD) attempted to initiate a traffic stop for a traffic violation. The vehicle failed to immediately stop for the officer. The vehicle then continued briefly driving until reaching the Lorien parking lot. Once the vehicle stopped, MAPD conducted a further traffic investigation. As a result of this investigation the driver (Martika C Mitchell) was charged and processed through the Carroll County Detention Center.

Charges include:

  • (1) COUNT FLEEING OR ELUDING POLICE OFFICER
  • (1 COUNT MISDEMEANOR) RESISTING ARREST
  • (1 COUNT) OBSTRUCTING A PEACE OFFICER
