The online petition “Bring Back Coach Tommy!” has more than 1,000 signatures. Back on May 6th (when originally written about by The Observer) this petition was at just over 600 signatures.
To put this in context (a little)…no recently elected official in the 7 local municipalities in Carroll County has received 1,000 votes…yet the (now former) JV Girls Basketball Coach at a local high school has more than 1,000 (online) signatures calling on South Carroll High School “to reconsider this decision and reinstate Coach Tommy to his position”.

I have not seen or heard many updates over the past week about the situation. We know the school system does not comment on personnel matters (as a matter of policy) so it is unlikely we will get additional details from the school or school system anytime in the near future.
One member of the community that reached out to the school system did get this response from Michael Duffy (Supervisor of Athletics for CCPS):
