The NRA Political Victory Fund (National Rifle Association’s political action committee) recently released endorsements and grades for candidates running in Maryland. The Carroll County Observer is reporting the endorsements and grades for candidates running in Carroll County (Maryland State Senate and State Delegate in Districts 5 and 42):

Maryland State Senate District 5: No endorsement or grades

Note: I am guessing the NRA Political Victory Fund did not rate this race as current State Senator Justin Ready is running unopposed.

Maryland State Delegate District 5: Endorsement for current Delegate April Rose

Grades for all candidates:

April Rose (A): Solidly pro-gun candidate. A candidate who has supported NRA positions on key votes in elective office or a candidate with a demonstrated record of support on Second Amendment issues.

Christopher Bouchat (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Dennis Frazier (F): True enemy of gun owners’ rights. A consistent anti-gun candidate who always opposes gun owners’ rights and/or actively leads anti-gun legislative efforts, or sponsors anti-gun legislation.

Scott Jendrek (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Sallie Taylor (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Chris Tomlinson (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Stephen Wantz (?): Refused to answer the NRA-PVF candidate questionnaire or a candidate who has made contradictory statements or taken positions that are inconsistent with the candidate’s answers to the NRA-PVF candidate questionnaire or previous record. A rating of “?” often indicates indifference, if not outright hostility, to gun owners’ and sportsmen’s rights.

Scott Willens (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Maryland State Senate District 42: No endorsements

Grades for all candidates:

Chris West (C): Not necessarily a passing grade. A candidate with a mixed record or positions on gun related issues, who may oppose some pro-gun positions or support some restrictive legislation.

Jimmy Mathis (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Zach Tomlin (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Maryland State Delegate District 42C: Endorsement for Joshua Stonko

Joshua Stonko (AQ): A pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate’s responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues.

Lyn Mallick (?): Refused to answer the NRA-PVF candidate questionnaire or a candidate who has made contradictory statements or taken positions that are inconsistent with the candidate’s answers to the NRA-PVF candidate questionnaire or previous record. A rating of “?” often indicates indifference, if not outright hostility, to gun owners’ and sportsmen’s rights.
