Republican candidate for Governor of Maryland Kelly Schulz has declined to attend an upcoming Republican candidate forum in Carroll County (Westminster) on April 21st hosted by the Republican Women of Carroll County.

The Carroll County Observer has obtained an email sent by the Schulz campaign to the forum organizers. Here is the text of the email sent by the Schulz campaign:

Thank you for your interest in hosting Kelly Schulz for a candidate form on 4/21. Our campaign has released the following statement:

“I believe in our judicial system, and I support everybody’s right to a defense, but Dan Cox made the personal choice to enrich himself financially and defend an individual charged with heinous crimes, including the rape of a child.

Frankly, Dan’s actions are disgusting and disqualify him to be Governor.

Our state needs a governor who will represent all Marylanders and will be a strong voice for victims of crime.”

=========

We have made the decision that Kelly will not share a stage with any individual who to this day continues to defend a convicted, registered tier three sex offender, while at the same time continuously calling the victim a liar.
