Carroll County has its first Democratic candidate officially running for County Commissioner in 2022: On February 10th Zach Hands filed to run in District 3.

Zach sent me the photo above and the following statement for this article:

“I am getting into this race because I think our county needs common sense solutions for the challenges that we all are facing as we emerge from the ongoing pandemic, with a focus on issues that face our districts/county and not focusing (as some have) on national wedge issues that do nothing for the people we hope to serve.

This is a great opportunity to give back to a community that I have lived in for nearly 20 years. I look forward to the opportunity to meet the constituents of Carroll County over the next 9 months, and hopefully have the opportunity to serve in the years to come.”

Zach has a Facebook page for his campaign: https://www.facebook.com/handsforcarroll. I have not found a campaign website as of this post.

The other candidates currently filed in District 3 include:

  • (R) Tom Gordon

One significant item of note: (R) Marsha B. Herbert is currently filed in District 1 but that is expected to change to District 3 after local redistricting is official in Carroll County. Here is a recent release from Marsha Herbert:

I will continue to watch for new local candidate filings. If candidates have statements, press releases and photos they would like to share with the community be sure to send those to scott@scotteblog.com.
